The family carriage is available on all SJ NORD long-distance trains – an offer specially designed for families with children.
Our family carriages have regular Standard seats, as well as a dedicated playroom with fun toys and books for the little ones. You will also find a changing table in the restroom. In the family carriage, as an adult, you can keep an eye on the children from your seat while they play in the playroom.
No extra cost
There is no extra cost to travel in the family carriage. This is because it is part of our Standard offer. Children traveling with at least one adult holding a Standard ticket are entitled to discounted prices. Children under 6 years old travel for free under the same conditions.
Two different playrooms
The playrooms have different facilities depending on the type of train. On our trains with a locomotive and carriages, the playroom is larger and includes an exciting climbing frame, giving children extra space for play and exploration.
At the end of our electric train sets on the Dovre Line, the playroom is specially designed for the youngest passengers. The playroom is somewhat smaller than in the locomotive and carriage trains, and the very youngest children can play in a safe and cozy environment with play tables, poufs, books, and various toys. The area gives them space to explore and play freely.
