Visit Stiklestad

One of the most significant events in Norwegian history, the battle of Stiklestad, took place here in the year 1030. The Viking king Olav Haraldsson perished in battle against Tore Hund’s army. The king was canonized after his death, due to the alleged miracles that happened to his human remains. This event marked the start of the christianization process in Norway and has helped shape the country.

Additionally an outdoor theatre represenation of the battle of Stiklestad takes place evevery year during Olsok – on the days surrounding July 29th.

The Stiklestad National Culture Centre

A visit here will let you dive into the the story in the exact place where it happened. The museum comprehends thirty different buildings of great antiquarian value that date back to the 17th century, in addition to an amfi-scene and a catholic chapell.

You may also visit the Stiklestadir, a majestic farm dating all the way back to the Middle Ages. Here you will witness the tales of stories past, and how life must have been like between the Viking Age and the Middle Ages.

Get in shape outdoors in Verdal!

There are to wooden stairs in Verdal, ready to get your pulse up: the stairs by the river promenade and the VukuStairs. The first one is located by the river boardwalk, which goes from Verdal to Trones. The other one starts by the Vuku school and consists of 269 steps.
