New long-distance trains for the Røros railway

Tog type 76 står på plattformen

It is a historical day for the Norwegian railway as the government has now approved the purchase of new long-distance trains for the Røros railway line. The state company Norske Tog has been given free room to purchase new bimodal trains. These trains can operate on both electricity and diesel, thus making them very adaptable should the Røros railway be electrified in the future.

The acquisition of the new trains was unanimously approved by the Parliament yesterday. The new trains will increase the level of comfort for our passengers and we regard this decision as an important step toward making train travel an even more attractive alternative. Without a doubt, a moment to truly celebrate!
