The last time a direct train from Trondheim to Oslo via Røros and Hamar left the station was in June 1997. That time it was a locomotive and carriages.
Since May 2nd and until September 1st SJ Norge will test a direct route without switching trains at Hamar during weekedays on the Rørosbanen. A train journey that has been highly requested. This route will be serviced in a Type 76 bimodal train, which runs both on diesel and electricity.
These trains will make the experience more quiet and seamless, and will double the amount of passengers compared to how it was in 1997. Additionally there will be more space for luggage and bicycles on board.
Machines serving warm and cold drinks, as well as snacks, will be available on board.
